WHY PETE HAMILL MATTERS
Last month, our very own Rick Apt and Bev Elander interviewed Pete Hamill, author of "Why Sinatra Matters". Bev graciously provided us with the following account and photos of the event. We hope you enjoy this second installment by our charming cub reporter, Ms. Elander.

A JOLLY GOOD TIME
In her debut article for Blue-Eyes.Com, Beverly Elander updates us on the Sinatra Society Meeting in London last month. A memorable time was had by all. Click here to read the report.

LOVIN' FRANK
We know a lot of you are still missing Frank in a big way, so we've also added a guestbook to our tribute site, Remembering Frank. Please feel free to drop by and add your own contribution. Incidentally, we discovered that our tribute site recently won a fancy award from NewMedia Magazine for "Best Collaborative Project". We just wanted to mention it to thank all of you who pitched in with the site. We all know Frank deserves nothing but the best, and his fans are a class act. We bet he would have got a kick outta seeing how much he meant to us all.

IT WAS A HELLUVA RIDE
Vintage cars once owned by Frank Sinatra (see picture at left), Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin were auctioned off at the 1999 Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction Jan. 20-24 in Scottsdale, Ariz.

SINATRA FBI FILES
As a service to Sinatra fans who have inquired about this news story, we are providing links to the Sinatra FBI files that were released Tuesday morning, December 8, 1998. Follow the story at CNN or peruse the files at APB Online.

THE POLLS ARE CLOSED!
Many of you have participated in our "Which Actor Should Play Sinatra" survey. The votes are being tabulated and will be posted at our site soon. Stay tuned.

SAD NEWS FOR SINATRA FANS.
The death of Frank Sinatra was a sudden shock to fans the world over. Despite his age and reports of ill health, we still believed he'd outlive us all. Please visit our tribute site, REMEMBERING FRANK, and share your thoughts and memories with other Frank fans. Please note that we will continue to add contributions to this site as an ongoing tribute to a man who brought us so much happiness in his lifetime. If you have sent us a contribution that has not been added yet, rest assured it will be added in the very near future. We have received many, MANY wonderful contributions and want to give them all the attention they deserve.

HBO RAT PACK MOVIE...
The debut of the fabulously-hyped HBO Rat Pack flick has come and gone, and many Sinatraphiles tuned in to see if Ray Liotta was a good choice to play our beloved Frank. Chances are the role won't score him an Oscar, but it has been reported that it earned him a horse's head from one of Sinatra's daughters. Apparently, Ray didn't see the humor in it.

Anyhoo, we all know how Sinatra rallied to get the role of Maggio in "From Here To Eternity". So, we thought you might like to rally behind your favorite actor and vote for who should play the part of Sinatra. We've given you a head start by listing some candidates based on other directors choices. Would John Travolta be the right choice for the upcoming Martin Scorsese film about Dino? Was Philip Casnoff a better choice than either of the two better known stars? What do you think? Send us your ideas and we'll post them here at Blue-Eyes.Com.

ENTERTAINER OF THE CENTURY.
And we would be remiss not to mention Frank's recent naming to the "TIME 100: People of the Century Poll"... yet it appears that Sinatra was almost overlooked. Reportedly, Elvis Presley made the cut over Frank, until Mike Wallace (of "60 Minutes" fame and host of the Time special) argued to the powers-that-be that the crooner had greater influence on personal style. Fortunately, Wallace won out and saved Time from some major embarrassment...although, like most Sinatra fans, we're amazed there was ever a debate on this issue at all.

Many of you have suggested we make our feature background audio files available in downloadable '.wav' format. These requests have not fallen on deaf ears! Soon, we will add an area to our site specifically for that purpose...but until then, here are a few snippets for your listening pleasure:
