Our Privacy Statement

The Internet Multicasting Service believes strongly in protecting your privacy. This privacy statement covers all of our web sites, including: not.invisible.net mappa.mundi.net, undesign.org, resource.org, park.org, town.hall.org, and north.pole.org.

We collect Personally Identifiable Information from you several ways:

  • We ask you to comment on our work. When you comment, we ask for your name, home url, and your email address.
  • We allow you to create personalized spaces, as in the example of creating "Unads" on undesign.org. When you do so, we ask you for your name, email address, and a password.
  • We ask for your support, including tax deductible donations payable by check or credit card.
  • We use cookies on some sites that allow you to personalize your environment. You can always block cookies from us and our sites will continue to function the same for you, with the only exception being you will not be able to take advantage of some of the personalization features.
  • We don't collect demographic information from you and we don't purchase lists from any source.
  • We keep log files with your IP address. If you are accessing a secure area of our site, we store your username in the log files.

Here is what we do with your information:

  • We store email addresses but we never make that information available to others. However, if you include your email address in a public comment which you post, others may find and use your email address, even though we will not proffer it to others.
  • We never send you unsolicited mail. You may choose to opt-in to our mailing lists; if you do, you will be asked to confirm your opt-in request, and your will not be added to any of our mailing lists without that confirmation.
  • If you choose to leave any of our mailing lists at any time, we will process your removal request within X hours, and we will never add you back to a mailing list from which you have removed yourself unless you ask us to.
  • Passwords are always encrypted when stored on our system.
  • Your credit card information is used only with a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) connection and is never stored on our system. It is used only to obtain approval from our merchant processing service at the Bank of America, and our communication with them also uses SSL.
  • Your postal address is stored in our files and is never made available to others. You will not receive unsolicited postal mail from us.
  • Our log files are used for analyzing overall statistics in the site and looking for security problems and missing files. We never redistribute our log files, nor do we analyze them looking for personally identifiable information.

We do not share information with others:

  • We have no commercial partners, co-branded sites, or business partners with whom we share information.
  • We do not share our information with any other group.
  • We have no third party intermediaries, with the exception of our credit card processing service, which stores your credit card information in order to bill you.
  • We do not profile your behavior through transparent gif's or through any other mechanism. Our statistics package, Wusage, has a "sample visits" feature which we look at to determine if there are navigation or other user interface problems, but that information is never shared.

We have no content targeted at users under 13 years of age, with the exception of our Santa Claus site. We have in the past allowed children to write to Santa by email and receive a response from a computer program, but we very carefully guarded those messages and will not disclose them. The Santa/child relationship is a special one and should be private! We shut the email to Santa pipeline down in 1996 because of record mailbomb storms being sent to elfmaster@north.pole.org by a disorganized group of misguided anarchists.

If you need to reach us to correct information, ask for information to be removed from our site, or have questions or concerns about our privacy policy or how we implement it, you may contact us by the following means:

  • By email to privacy@not.invisible.net.
  • By postal mail to:
