Francis Albert Sinatra : 1915 - 1998

We received this from Sandra Polychronides, a Sinatra fan in Greece:

"The 20th Century Is Over"

Frank Sinatra had style, class, attitude and the uncanny ability to select the most beautiful songs ever written and sing them in his unique style that always tore your heart out! My father took my mother out for their very first date to the Paramount Theatre in New York back in the '40's. After the show they went for dinner to Ruby Foo's a well-known Chinese restaurant. As my mother was about to take the first bite of food they heard a commotion at the front door. In walked Sinatra with his entourage! Needless to say she was unable to touch her food after that, ignored my father completely and spent the next two hours glued to Sinatra! She said it was truly a night to remember!

I grew up listening to Sinatra records in addition to my contemporaries, Barbra Streisand and Johnny Mathis. I was living in Providence, Rhode Island in 1974 when I saw an advertisement for an upcoming Sinatra concert at the Providence Civic Center. I was able to get two tickets for my fiance (now husband) and myself and we anxiously awaited the performance. I had no idea what an evening it would be! After listening to "Witchcraft", "The Lady is a Tramp", "Night and Day", "All or Nothing at All", "I've Got You Under My Skin" and all the other gems I was completely hooked. Never had I heard or experienced anything like that before! It was pure magic--we didn't want the night to end!

It is true as someone else said---the 20th century is over! There will never be another like him...not even to come close! My sincerest condolences to his family. We are all better for having been touched by Frank Sinatra and he has left us a legagy of music. His voice will be with us forever!!!

"I didn't know him or his music much because I am young, but i can remember my parents playing the music when I was a kid. I went to a book fair this summer and I found Frankie's autobiography and we bought. Sorry to lose such a great musician. He added alot to the music of the 20th Century." - j.e.f.
