Sunshine and Moonbeams [ FILED UNDER: Buzz » Heroes » ] |
At 1:30 PM on July 5, 2002, mikel dot org spoke:
"I fully support any effort to remove as much responsibility for domain registrations from Verisign as possible, so the ".org is a public trust" is very interesting to me. What I can't figure out though, as an ORG owner, is how it might affect me personally. Will I be able to keep my domain under this proposal? Or is it the sunshine and popsicles it seems to be according to the sites I've seen who support this plan."
Hi Mike -
The answer is: "yes, you will be able to keep your domain." Absolutely!
We are making
absolutely no changes to the open registration policy of .org.
The harder answer is to your sunshine and popsicles proposition. I love the
metaphor, but was unable to parse it properly. When I don't understand something,
the first place I turn to is my partner and and dearly beloved.
She suggested that since we're waxing poetic, I advance the clock forward a few hours
from sunshine and popsicles to polkadots and moonbeams:
There were questions in the eyes of other dancers
As we floated over the floor
There were questions but my heart knew all the answers
And perhaps a few things more
Now in a cottage, built of lilacs and laughter
I know the meaning, of the words: "ever after"
And I'll always see polkadots and moonbeams
When I kiss my pug-nosed dream
(With apologies to writers Burke and Van Heusen via the immortal
Frank Sinatra.)
Regards,
Carl
