Well, this isn't the topic that was being discussed, but since you bring up WLS, we definitely have a position on that topic. :))

First, .org is not in the WLS proposal and we have no intention of getting it put in there. In addition to some technical problems with WLS (e.g., a queue of 1 isn't exactly a queue, is it?), it uses proprietary technology licensed from Snapnames. None of that is good.

We will implement the Redemption Grace Periods for Deleted Names, which solves the initial problem of inadvertent deletions and "redirecting users to pr0n and gambling sites" right out the gate. And, of course, we'll monitor and participate in ICANN, IETF, and any other forum where we can find open, non-proprietary, pro-consumer technology to implement.
