Mandy Patinkin
Born and raised in Chicago, Tony and Emmy Award-winner Mandy Patinkin has an extensive list of theater credits that include Broadway, Off-Broadway and regional theater. He won a Tony Award for his 1980 Broadway debut as Che in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita and was again nominated for his starring role in the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Sunday in the Park with George. In 1991 he returned to Broadway in the Tony Award winning musical The Secret Garden, and in 1993 he appeared as Marvin in Falsettos. Other stage credits include The Winters Tale, Henry IV Part 1, Hamlet, and Savages, to name but a few.
Mr. Patinkin won a 1995 Emmy Award for his starring role in the critically acclaimed CBS television series "Chicago Hope." His television and feature film credits are numerous and include The Princess Bride, Dick Tracy, Yentl, and "Alien Nation," among others.
In 1989 he began his concert career at Joseph Papp's Public Theater. This coincided with the release of his first solo album, Mandy Patinkin. Since then he has toured extensively across the United States and Canada. In 1990 he released his second solo album, Mandy Patinkin in Concert: Dress Casual. His third and fourth albums, Experiment and Oscar and Steve, were recorded on the Nonesuch label.
Mr. Patinkin resides in New York City with his wife, actress and writer Kathryn Grody, and their two children.
