What We've Done

Through a unique mix of technology and public policy, IMS has helped create and change crucial infrastructure for the Internet. We focus on enhancing the utility of the Internet by putting real data on-line in new ways.

A few highlights of our work include:

1993 »

Internet Talk Radio becomes the first radio station on the Internet.
We start the first telephone company on the Internet.

1994 »

RT-FM starts broadcasting live events and 24-hour feeds.
We put the EDGAR and Patent databases on the net.

1995 »

We get the SEC to take over our EDGAR service.
Santa Claus gets mailbombed.

1996 »

The Internet 1996 World Exposition becomes the first Internet world's fair.

1997 »

We reboot IMS to focus on longer-term research.

1998 »

The Patent Office releases their database on the Internet.

1999 »

We start Mappa.Mundi Magazine.

2000 »

Marshall Rose leads a team of developers who release the BEEP Protocol and other portions of the Blocks Architecture.

2001 »

We release 50 gigabytes of bulk government data and initiate the SpaceMapper and NetTopBox projects.
